blah

trickle

I’ve had a bit of blah day, you know the kind of day where you feel dreary, and even though you try to shake yourself out of it nothing works.

I find when I have these kinds of days, sometimes I  just need to indulge the moment, cuddle up on the sofa with an old favourite DVD and some ice-cream, and make the blah work for me.

If you hadn’t already guessed I have a teen movie thing, and my favourite movies for days like today, are Ten things I hate About You, and Clueless. If I feel I need some longer term therapy I’ll settle down with the BBC version of North and South (4 hours) or Pride and Prejudice (6 hours).

However as I am now a mum, I no longer have the freedom to just indulge in a couple of hours (or even 6) of TV. So when my daughter was born I wrote my sanity list, ideas to keep me sane on a blah day, and here it is in no particular order:

  • sleep
  • call/hang out with my husband
  • go for a walk / get outside
  • call/hang out with family
  • call/hang out with my best friends
  • pray
  • me time
  • journalling
  • chocolate
  • gardening
  • cooking

It’s not an exhaustive list, but it’s some of the things that work for me, and I keep it on the fridge where I can see it. How about you, what helps you get through a blah day?
