We have had a stretch of rainy days here, and I have been cooped up in the house with Miss 2 and Bubba Girl, all of us going nuts. Miss 2 has now hit that age where she needs some physical activity every day. For a few days there it was running on the driveway in the wind, or splashing in the puddles, before getting in and out of the car to go somewhere dry.
On Sunday I just had to bite the bullet, and even though the day was wet, we all piled into the car and went to the beach. Mercifully, when we got there we had an hour of dry weather and Miss 2 ran to her heart’s content. Yesterday I got out the bubble machine and the two girls chased bubbles until they were so giggly they could no longer stand up straight.
There is something about coming out from the comforting shell of our house and feeling the wind on our faces, the cold in the air, and yes even the rain. There is something about coming out from behind our windows and looking beyond the trees, to the sea, and the sky. There is something in just being outside that frees us from our navel gazing and lifts the mood of all of us. So this afternoon we are going to walk to the shops, not because we particularly need anything but because we need to be outside.
PS – yes a (somewhat inappropriate!) George Michael reference there, but I can’t help it I’m a child of the 80’s!
=D we do that too!!! All in the stroller to the shops/ library, and Cha walks back -too heavy up the hill for me to push! We love it… And it makes time fly!
