Christmas wordplay III

parcels“Joy to the world! The Lord is come”, so starts another of the carols we hear so often at this time of year. But I wonder how much joy are you feeling today, on this Monday of Christmas week?

I finally on Friday finished all the school and extra-curricular activities with my girls, and when people ask how I’m feeling the words that spring readily to mind are “tired and worn-out”. Joy is not in the top ten words on the tip of my tongue at the moment.

My dictionary says this about joy:

Joy: a deep feeling or condition of happiness or contentment; something causing such a feeling; an outward show of pleasure and delight.

I love this definition, and I love how it is structured in this entry. This definition shows me that joy is not a surface feeling but it comes from a place much deeper than that. It reminds me to focus on the things (and people) that cause a feeling of joy and it helps me to remember to be joyful outwardly too!

Each year I get a new Christmas album and here is a little something from my album this year that sums up joy for me:

Merry Christmas and may you and your family experience the joy of Christmas,

Jodie
