five years and 250 posts later … what this journey is teaching me

When I started writing this blog in May 2010, My eldest was 9 months old. And I started writing in order to have a moment to myself, a moment of reflection and contemplation. I had two readers at that stage, Mr and my sister. And I was quite happy with that!

Now when I started with my 150-200 word posts, and two readers in 2010. I had no idea that this would be an incredibly important thing for me for the next five years of my life. I just needed some me time!

As my writing developed I made my blog more public, published my poetry, joined a writing group, and I was asked to write for the Kin Women blog in July 2013.

This post today is my 250th post for only halfway there, and I have been blogging for over 5 years now. This is unbelievable to me but also something I am very proud of.

The tagline of only halfway there is “encouragement for the journey”. And while I pray that each post gives you some encouragement. I have found that this blog has done the same for me.

This little blog has taken me on such a journey, a personal journey of finding out that I am in fact a creative person; a journey of growing in my writing skills; and a journey of discovering every day more about myself. But it doesn’t stop there. It has also taken me on a journey with this wonderful community of readers (that’s you guys!). A journey of authentic conversation about the roller-coaster experience of motherhood, or the shared journeys of grief, or the collective understanding of the need for rest.

I started this blog in 2010 to find a space for me in my early days of motherhood, but what I have gained is so much more than that. I have gained a community who encourage me so much and for that I thank you.

Here is to the next 250 posts!
