Today I took a ‘think day’ after reading a blog by Tsh Oxenrider of the Art of simple. The premise behind this day is allowing yourself space just to think about life. She quotes author Greg McKeown:
We need space to escape in order to discern the essential few from the trivial many. Unfortunately, in our time-starved era we don’t get that space by default—only by design.

This morning my daughter grabbed some books off the shelf and immersed herself in them. “These are fantastic books mum, come and see”. As I went in, I realised the books she held are books written by my good friend, Elaine Fraser.

Deny: to declare a statement to be untrue; to reject as false; to withhold; to refuse to fulfil the expectations of; to refuse to acknowledge; disown; to refuse (oneself) things desired.
I am a big believer in the power of words. The words spoken over our life and the words that we speak to ourselves have power to hurt, harm, heal or help. But I also think there is a place to examine the words we deny.
